“Just a walk through the park”
(Walking with Woody)
More on this piece:
Me and man’s best friend.
My boxer Woody and I spent countless days in Atlanta at Piedmont Park…even on cold winter days as portrayed.
I must give credit were credit is due. Having become an admirer of Gustave Caillebotte, I came across a black and white photograph of him walking his dog Bergere (taken by his father Martial in 1892). Personally I found it to be one of the most moving candid images I’ve ever seen. So I decided to use it as a reference for my first self-portrait; desiring it to be typical in telling about myself, yet atypical in composition.
