No sign is a better symbol of the city than the ole Neon Pegasus atop the Magnolia Hotel (previously the Magnolia Petroleum Company Building).
Painting nocturnes (like Whistler’s pieces at right) aren’t always easy as black, violet, and dark blue can be especially finicky to work with but I couldn’t wait to tackle this one due to the high contrast and symbolism of the neon sign …just like from the Allerton.
