“Panorama of Southie Saint Patrick’s Day Parade – Boston, MA”
The piece is framed in a specially commissioned, hand carved, 22k gold leaf frame by Quattro Frameworks, Inc. of Astoria Queens, NY, that features twenty-two shamrocks carved subtly into the ornate decoration.
Headed to one of the top St Patrick’s Day parades with my college buddy. True to what you would expect of Southie …we were both almost in a fight and invited to someone’s house party . Good times.
The piece includes [parade order of procession (right to left) moving along Broadway at Dorchester Street intersection in South, Boston]:
- U.S. Military Color Guard
- Marine Corps Band
- Boston Mounted Police Equestrian Unit (Unfortunately this unit was disbanded in 2009)
- Parade Grand Marshal and WWII Veteran Joseph P. Murphy
- Saint Patrick, the Patron Saint of Ireland atop a float with waving children
- Irish step dancers
- Irish American Police Officers Association Pipes & Drums (IAPOA) Corp
- The Lexington Minutemen
- U.S. Coast Guard Cape Cod Air Station Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter
- News cameraman filming
- Thousands enjoying the parade
