“Красная площадь” aka “Red Square”
(Moscow, Russia)
In 2006 I took a trip to Russia with my father. Standing in Red Square, you feel a bit awkward knowing that you are standing in the heart of the old evil Soviet regime!
Though the city now has many businesses and other evidence of capitalism; Red Square takes you back in time and is a magnificent place to visit. From left to right: Gosudarstvennyi Universal’nyi Magazin (GUM) or State Universal Store, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, the Kremlin (and a few of it’s towers) and Lenin’s Tomb.
Of note is that the GUM Store now contains high end western stores such as: Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Nike, and even lingerie stores …da comrade?!?!
